Hello again!
Welcome to Texas! Team FNB has been hanging out here for eight days now, and we've become quite accustomed to the never-ending supplies of Whataburger and Sonic.
Because of the South by Southwest festival in Austin this past week, we have had a bit of a strange schedule and had several days off. While we would rather be playing shows, having days off in new places are always pretty fun.
Earlier this week, we spent two days on the Gulf of Mexico, where none of us had ever been before. One day we spent at a resort on North Padre Island, sipping drinks from pineapples and watching the sun set (we like sappy stuff too!). Later that night, we went down to the beach and had a campfire with Sing It Loud and The Morning Light, complete with hot dogs hamburgers and s'mores. We sat around the fire and made prank calls. A good time was had by all.
The next day we drove to South Padre Island, which has the reputation for being a huge spring break destination. The town was in full swing when we arrived and we went right to work. We met a bunch of football players from THE Ohio State University and got down!
We also had the chance to see the Alamo in San Antonio. It's really exciting to be able to see things like the Alamo while you're on tour because generally, you never have the chance so see the sights.
When interviewed, The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr once described touring the United States as seeing "a train and a room and a car and a room and a room and a room." It really is that way most of the time: all the highways look the same, the hotels look the same, the venues look the same. So breaking the mold by hanging at River Walk in San Antonio is a welcome scenery change.
By the time we talk again, we'll be headed to the left coast to experience the great bounties California has to offer. We'll keep you posted, as always. Check back soon!
With love,
FNB
