Hello from New England!
Ten days into our run with Automatic Loveletter and A Cursive Memory, we are having an amazing time. Right now we are in a hotel in Manchester, Conn. after playing a great show to a VERY enthusiastic crowd in Hartford. Unfortunately, Automatic Loveletter couldn't play the show because of illness, but the kids still enjoyed themselves.
Touring is HARD on the body, mostly because of the rigorous schedule. On an average day, we get up around 9:30 a.m. and drive a few hours to the next venue. Then, we carry our heavy equipment into the club and set it up. We play, pack up, and head back to the hotel around 1 or 1:30 in the morning. Most of us get around five hours of sleep each night. Especially in the winter, it's very easy to get sick. No sleep plus bad food plus cold weather equals super sickness. We try to combat it by eating well when we can and loading up on vitamins every day. It also helps combat the post-show parties we go to.
Fans often have the misconception that touring is this glamorous event night after night. It is not. Sixty percent of the time we're sitting in a van staring at each other, and the other 40 we are in a strange club, trying to make ourselves comfortable.
You know how sometimes you have a bad day and just want to get in bed and not talk to anyone? We don't have that option. Having alone time on the road is a hard thing to find, especially since we usually are either staying on a friend's floor or sharing one hotel room at night. We still manage to have a good time in other ways. We get to meet new friends in every city and hang out with them. We also get to do crazy stage antics. Our friend Gunz, who is the host of The Gunz Show on Idobi Radio, made a Super Bowl bet with Robby. Gunz bet that if the Steelers won, Robby had to play in his underwear in New York. Robby made good on his bet last night at the Highline Ballroom, stripping down in front of a few hundred kids and playing a song in his Red Sox boxers.
Still have some good shows coming up and cant wait to see you all! Come say hey!
With love,
<3,
FNB
