Hello Cobra lovers! Suarez here, bass extraordinaire for those of you who don't know, reporting in, and I need to catch you up to speed on what's been happening in the life of the cobras.
So, we are currently on the Vans Warped Tour BUT we left about nine days early to do some warm up shows on the way with our good friends We The Kings, The Secret Handshake, and Mexico's finest, DELUX. We had some awesome shows along the way in some places we have never been before. A few friends came out to hang, too! P.S. -- we got a pimp new bus.
I don't know if there is anything that can actually prepare anyone for the summer's biggest punk rock summer camp that is The Warped Tour. With about 70-80 buses and almost 1,000 people on the tour, I had no idea what we were getting into as I attended my first Warped Tour ever! Starting in southern California, we were lucky enough to hit a heat wave and at a blazing 112 degrees, we had a great first show! I think everyone on the tour had a few bugs to work on the first day and get all the technical stuff figured out, but I just hung out in my slippers and tried to make some new friends... it's kind of like the first day of camp.
Day 2 was smooth sailing! San Fran welcomed us with great weather and open arms. It was a funny day though -- I had my handy cam, and I was fortunate enough to walk in on our keytar player Victoria as she was taking advantage of the little girls room, powdering her nose or whatever they call going to the bathroom these days.
Day 3 somewhere in southern Cali again…Ventura. Amazing weather, on the water, great sea breeze... I think the guy that invented the idea of making air fresheners called "Sea Breeze" must have been from this place. We played mad early -- 12:20 p.m. In case you don't know, all the bands find out what time they play every morning at 9 a.m., and it's different for every band, every day...no exceptions. Every night, Warped Tour has a BBQ, and everyone hangs out. The BBQ broke down last night, so it was just a huge hangout. It was like a massive party last night -- people everywhere, good hangs for sure. We have a couple days off which is why everyone was "Going Big" last night and really living it up.
Cobras will be bowling for charity in San Diego today against other bands on the tour. Lucky for us, last time I went bowling I scored a 120... not too bad, but I shredded everyone else to bits and pieces.
Until next time,
Alex Suarez.
