College visting time...find out more about Boston College.

Hey guys!

First and most importantly, THE RED SOX WON THE WORLD SERIES!!!! WOOO. Okay I'm done. Haha! (Editor’s note: Us Yankees fans were sooo tempted to edit that out, Devin! lol) Anyway! I finally went on a Boston College tour! We had a day off of school so my parents and I went to visit.

First they had a 90-minute talk, just explaining the school and what it offers. After the talk they allowed time for people who had questions. A lot of people asked how students balance a varsity sport and schoolwork. One of the speakers was a varsity swimmer, so she had tons of input for them. They also talked a lot about going abroad and how it's really encouraged. They said that you can basically go anywhere in the world for whole semester!

After this talk, we all split up into groups to go on our tours. There was this really funny speaker, so I raced ahead to get in his group. The tour was so much fun, they walked us around the campus pointing out cool little facts and it was actually pretty great! Also, for the people who were afraid to ask questions in the beginning, they now felt more comfortable to speak up since we were in much smaller groups.

I learned at BC there are these little safety call buttons across the entire campus, so that you can see one from wherever you may be. If you go up to them and press the emergency button, a police officer will be there in under 60 seconds. Talk about safety!

A good tip for the college visits is:be prepared with a set of questions you want to ask, and talk to your tour guide because they are usually students. My tour guide gave me the most honest answers, he openly admitted to never doing his own laundry and he changed his major over six times! It was also really cool to see the campus now in the fall opposed to seeing it in the summer when there are no students there.

So get out there and start visiting the colleges you're applying to! It really helps you to get a feel for the school by seeing if it's wayyy to big or creepily small. Boston College has like an old "Georgian" look which I loveee, and one of its dining halls even looks like the big one in Harry Potter! :) All right, I have to go convince my parents to let me go to the Red Sox parade, wish me luck!
