Hey guys!
Senior year can’t get any crazier. I'm being bombarded left and right with huge tests and the stress of my college essay is really kicking in. Some teachers understand how much we are going through and try to help out, but others...not so much. My religion teacher decided to give us a gigantic test on "the Old Testament...and anything I've ever said in class..." um, not cool. Sorry if I don't tape record every class! Haha anywayyy, the rough draft of my essay is finally done! I probably changed my topic about six times because I am doing the "topic of choice" which gives me alot of ideas to choose from. I decided to write about how life at my school has changed me so much and about all the great friends I have made here.
A good tip for essay writing is if you are a naturally funny person, don't write a sad, depressing paper...let your personality shine through!! In my essay, I threw in little stories about things that have happened to me over the years. I talked about how during gym class I rollerbladed down a wicked steep hill and crashed into a pile of hay barrels! Yeah, it would have been pretty funny if I didn't break out in hives! Turns out I'm allergic to hay. Why we had a bunch of hay lying around on the soccer field I'll never know.
OK, back to the college essay business -- one of my best friends, Mary, is writing about her first day of kindergarten and how it’s going to be like the first day of college. She threw in a funny story about how another girl was wearing the same dress as her, even though she bought it two months before. My friend Kelly came to my school during sophomore year, so she is writing about how that school transition affected her. There are so many topics you could write about --start brainstorming!
If you haven’t gotten started yet, what are you waiting for?! No one is going to write it for you, so just buckle down and get it done. For those of you who are juniors and sophomores, here’s a quick tip, keep your grades up! I know college seems like forever away, but it comes faster than you think, and colleges look at your grades from ALL of high school. (Yikes!) All right, well, I got to go study for a physics test…bummer, but my last tip for the day is, don't forget to HAVE FUN. To quote Kenny Chesney for a second, "life goes faster than you think."
Talk to you all later!!
