Do Teens Need Image Consulting?
We often associate stylists and personal shoppers with celebrities who are being paid to look their best. Not anymore. The newest clients of these image consultants are young girls who are influenced by the media. They want to look like celebrities on television, like the stars of The Hills, and are paying big bucks for the star treatment.
"In the past couple of years, the market of 12-to-20 year olds has absolutely grown," LA stylist Abbey Michelle Moll says. "It's being driven by the media and the Internet."
Image consultants help their clients pick out new wardrobes, supervise salon visits and makeup applications to make sure these girls are given the image that they want to fit. The cost for their services is around $500. Many young girls feel that getting these makeovers will help boost their confidence.
