Should 11-Year-Olds Be Celeb Journalists?
Gracie Stagg is the envy of a lot of wannabe entertainment reporters out there -- she's got a job as a celeb journalist and regularly interviews A-listers at red carpet events. The catch? She's 11 years old!
Although she's interviewed celebs like Zac Efron and Paris Hilton before, Gracie's occupational status as a "member of the press" was brought up recently. While doing interviews on the red carpet for a Children Uniting Nations charity event, she was berated on camera by actor Gary Busey. Since then, the video of the interview has been burning up YouTube. Now, had Gracie been an adult reporter, the video would be funny, but the fact that she's not even a teenager makes it a little insane.
But Gracie's not the only young person in L.A. who's taking advantage of the Hollywood scene -- there are plenty of young paparazzi out there, like 15-year-old Blaine Hewison and 14-year-old Austin Visschedyk, snapping photos of celebs as they stumble out of clubs late at night. Is this the future or first jobs? Is "interviewing and photographing celebs" the new "babysitting for your next-door neighbor"?
