Are Pop Lyrics Too Racy?

From P!nk's "U + Ur Hand," to Rihanna's "Shut Up And Drive," it's pretty obvious that sex isn't a taboo subject on the pop charts. But are the songs that blare from your radio too sexy for audiences?

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, actress/aspiring singer, Emmy Rossum said, "I don't want to bad-mouth any singers or what they stand for lyrically, but there is a lot of room in Top 40 radio for the anti-slut. I hope I speak for a lot of women in the way I write." (Whoa -- those are some harsh words, but we get the gist of what she's saying.)

While artists like Miley Cyrus and Aly & AJ shy away from sexy tunes, they're certainly in the minority amongst singers like Christina Aguilera, Fergie, and Eve. But is there a place for chaste lyrics and songs on MTV and on the radio? Can artists who don't write about sex get as much airplay as singers who do? As it stands now, Miley Cyrus is on the top of the Billboard album sales charts, but she's yet to really have a No. 1 commercial radio hit. Kinda weird, don'tcha think?!

What do you think: : should pop songs have tamer lyrics? Sound off now!
