Who Do You Dress For?

In an interview featured in this month's Harper's Bazaar, cover girl Jessica Simpson says, "I dress for men. I dress for men and myself. If I'm dressing for men, then I know it's good for myself!" Hmm, we're not sure that stilettos and booty shorts are really "good" for you, but Jessica's admission makes us think, whom are we really thinking about when we get dressed in the morning?

What you wear and how you present yourself says a lot about you. So depending on who you're trying to reach, you're likely to wear different things. Besides getting done up to snag a guy, or wearing clothes that make you feel comfy or confident, still other women dress to impress other women (or make them jealous!).

We asked five friends about who runs through their minds when they slip into their clothes in the morning. (There's not wrong answer -- as one of them put it, "I would never wear anything that I didn't personally feel comfortable in, [but] I think it's very human to dress based on a desire for affection and peer approval.") The results? One said women, one said men, and three said themselves. Take that, Jessica!

What about you: do you dress for guys, for other women, or for yourself? Sound off now!

You Say!
