Hey everyone!
So one of you left a comment on my last entry asking about how to avoid awkward prom moments and such -- that is a great question! Last year I went to three proms and each had its own little awkward situation...so that was great, haha. Anyways, hopefully these tips will help you!
Problem #1. Your date is shorter. This happened to me for the first prom I attended last year. We were pretty good friends, but he was a tad bit shorter than me. See, I'm 5'8'', so I'm on the taller side, and he was about 5'6''ish! If someone who is shorter asks you to prom then he obviously doesn't have an issue with being shorter. It was a little awkward posing for pictures at the house, so we decided that I would sit in a chair and he sat behind me. It actually worked out well because there was a whole group of us and another couple was sitting, too!
Problem #2. You haven't seen your date in a very long time. For the second prom I went to I hadn't seen my date in about two years! It was soo weird at first. If you have a date you haven't seen in a while, or are being set up on a blind date for your prom, you need to remember that communication is key! Try to keep in touch, maybe even try to hang out once or twice (make it a group thing!!) before the big day so that when prom rolls around you'll probably have something to joke about.
Problem #3. Your date has a girlfriend. This is probably one of the most awkward things to happen for prom. My date for my own prom last year had a girlfriend…bummerrr! It's tricky because you don't want some psycho girl after you for doing something wrong with her boyfriend, but you also want to be able to have fun with your date. Note: you can still dance with your date…just get a bunch of people together and form a circle -- that way everyone is dancing with pretty much everyone else. For slow dances, just don't stand ridiculously close to each other. That way everyone gets what they want...and no psycho girlfriends are hunting you down!!
If you guys have any other questions about prom or pre-prom or whatever pleaseeee leave some below because I'd loveee to help! More next week!
xo, mary
