Previously on Grey's Anatomy…

Cristina tricks Meredith into forking over a surgery, so Meredith is stuck with her half-sister Lexie as her intern in the Pit. (Uh-oh -- it's way too early in the episode for a heart-to-heart, so there's obviously drama coming.) A trauma comes in -- a guy who's be down for 24 minutes. Meredith tells Lexie do the intubation, but Lexie says she's never done one. But she's gotta learn sometime, and that time is now. No beginner's luck this time -- Lexie can't do it, and the guy dies. Meredith halfheartedly comforts her, but Lexie freaks out and calls Meredith a bad doctor (oh no she didn't!) -- she should have done the intubation herself to save the guy. (You can smell the underlying issues with her mom's death wafting through the screen.) Meredith explains that the guy was already dead and that he was only brought it as procedure. The sisterly clash continues, until Meredith banishes her to the clinic. There, Lexie whines to Bailey that Meredith hates her and hated her mother because she "killed" her when she came in for hiccups. So after getting scolded by Bailey, Meredith sits down with Lexie and goes over her mother’s death note so she can have some closure. Aw!
