My favorite part of Thanksgiving is that there are no gifts expected, so you really can concentrate on your family or your friends or whoever you're with. I also like that it's not attached to any religion, so it's something we can all experience as Americans. It's the one holiday where the message is clear: it's about being thankful for what you have. My family takes it really seriously. It involves about 16 hours of charades and an equal amount of time eating, and some hiking and some bonding. But it's definitely my favorite holiday. I love it.
