Tokyo!
Welcome to Tokyo! What an abrupt change from sleepy, tropical Okinawa! It's only a two and a half hour plane ride from Naha City to Narita Airport, but Japan's capital city might as well be on another planet. Tokyo is like nothing I have ever seen before: a city thoroughly steeped in history and tradition, but with a population obsessed with all that is modern and new. It's not uncommon to see women dressed in the traditional yukata, shopping in Louis Vuitton in super-lux Ginza. It was so fun to explore Tokyo's many neighborhoods and so convenient to ride on the Yamanote Rail Line, which makes one giant loop around the entire city in just under 90 minutes. Tokyo was one of the most fast-paced, efficient places I have ever been, and when you hear all about the shopping, you might be able to understand why I loved every single second in that urban oasis.
