One Hot Minute With Fast Food Nation
Eating at fast food restaurants -- we've all done it at one time or another. In fact, according to Eric Schlosser's 2001 critique of the practices of fast food companies, Americans spend more money on fast food than on higher education, personal computers, or new cars. In addition, more than 90 percent of American children eat at McDonald's every month. Pretty scary when you consider the fact that you don't really know what's in the special sauce of your Big Mac, or what's going on behind that food counter. And while Fast Food Nation is pretty hard to stomach, a big screen adaptation of the book is coming to a theatre near you. But it's not all about the food -- it's about the immigrant workers who work in dangerous conditions, the automated responses cashiers are trained to give, and much more. Chew on these interviews with Wilmer Valderamma, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Paul Dano, and Eric Schlosser -- served fresh and piping hot!
