"My friend doesn't have a date for prom! How can I help?"

You Said:
"My good friend doesn't have a date to the prom. I know it's a bit early, but we're trying to have everyone have a date or a friend come along so the price is fair for everyone. When I let her know, it was really upsetting to her. She isn't the type for blind dates, but I don't want her to be alone. What should I do? How can I help? It's Senior Prom!"

We Say:
Hmm, it's a sticky situation, but you can do a few things. You could just let her be and let her go alone. Hey -- if she's all for going to prom solo, good for her! But since you have a money issue, too, get another girl who's going solo to take the place as the "date." That way the price will be fair for everyone, and your friend won't be subjected to an awkward blind date.

Here's option number two. Your friend probably has a guy friend or two who hasn't found a date himself. Prom night doesn't have to include a boyfriend type as a date in the formula. They can go as just friends. Just make sure the guy is clear on that, too. Hey, if it's that weird for her to have a date, they don't even have to dance together, heck, they don't even have to acknowledge each other.

If you're left with no choice -- you can "trick" your friend. No, not a mean trick or anything like that, but you can subtly introduce her to someone and hope that sparks fly. Make sure it's with a bunch of people, so she won't smell that it's a setup. Go out as a group and introduce her to a few available guys. She's bound to find someone that she connects with.
