"My best friend HATES my boyfriend."
You Said:
"My boyfriend and my best friend used to get along really well, until recently. I have been spending my usual “girls nights” with my boyfriend because of different B-day parties and events he’s invited me to, but my BFF is being a full on beeyatch to my guy. She accuses him of "stealing me away" and basically screwing up our friendship. So not fair! What should I do?"
We Say:
Oh the plots of jealous single girls. Unfortunately, when you have a best friend who’s a solo sister, she’s bound to get crabby about it. Not only does she have to split her time with some boy in your life, but she doesn’t have a crush of her own. Basically, she’s bummed she’s guy-less and using your absentee status at “girls night” to make you a villain.
Although we know you’re dying to say, “If you had a boyfriend, this wouldn’t be an issue!” definitely restrain. You’ll pretty much send your friendship right over the cliff. Instead, tell your GF that you really like the guy you’re dating and he’s not going anywhere…and neither is she. Remind her that you guys are best friends and obviously that’s super important to you, but so is this guy right now. Ask her to knock off the mean routine around your boyfriend, and then figure out a time to have a “just girls” day.
