"My best friend wants me to cover for her."

You Said:
"There’s a party that my friend *Sara wants to go to this weekend, but her parents probably won’t let her go. (They’ll definitely be drinking there.) I’ve got other plans, but she wants me to pretend she’s sleeping over so she can go to the party. She’ll kill me if I say no, but I don’t want to get in trouble over this. What do I do?"

We Say:
Not to get all parental on you, but if her 'rents don’t want her to go, it’s probably for a good reason. Unsupervised parties + drinking = cops busting it up. Never a fun time. We say don’t cover for her. If your fam finds out (and believe us, they always do) you’re just going to get grounded over a lame party.

Your BFF is going to be P.O.’d for a few days for sure, but she can come up with another alibi if she’s determined to go. You don’t want to get dragged down because of her mistakes. If she’s a good friend, she’ll understand why you aren’t helping. If she’s not, then it’ll prove to you why saying N.O. was a bright idea.
