Charli's Balancing Act
Tuesday, September 5, 2006
In case you hadn't already noticed, I'm 3,000 miles away from the rest of the Alloy.com team. About a year ago, I decided to go back to school to get my master's degree. (Such a big decision, I must say!) Convinced that I needed a break from The City, I decided to load my little Honda up with my most prized possessions (47 pairs of shoes being a huge bulk of that) and book it across country to the University of California at Berkeley
When I got to Cali, I had more on my plate than I ever could have imagined. My grad school workload was intense, my BF missed me dearly, and I met a bunch of new friends who wanted to party every chance they got! And of course, I had to work! My life was so chaotic, but over time I was able to find a way to juggle love, school, work, friends, and family while still keeping my best interests in mind.
It wasn't easy, but I did it! My BF Gibran proved he's a keeper by moving across the country just to be with me. Now that he's here with me, it's so much easier to sneak in a great date or two when we have free time. (See us at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco?) I spent four blissful days with my Aunt Vicky when she came to visit over the summer. (Don't we look just alike?), and as you can see from my road racer shot, I make sure to always make a little time for weekend fun! If I can do it, so can you, ladies! May your school year not be as hectic as mine!
Love,
Charli
