"She ditched me when people started spreading rumors about me!"

I've known my BFF Erica for a long time and she has always helped me with any kind of problem that I�ve had. Now that we are in high school, people like to really start some crazy rumors about people they hardly know. Around school, someone I didn't even know and still don't know started a rumor about me and told people that I hooked up with all of these random guys. I was really mad, but I eventually ignored it because I obviously know the truth. The rumor died down and two weeks later there was another similar rumor going around about me. The person or people said I did some unbelievable stuff with my close guy friends as well. My BFF told me she heard the rumors and advised me to ignore them. She comforted me like a best friend should, but then she went and did a complete 360. She told me to stop talking to all of my guy friends because she didn't want whoever was starting the rumors, and all of the people who know her, to eventually start rumors about her, too! I was so hurt by this and I couldn�t believe she said that. She went without talking to me for a whole week because she didn�t even want to be seen with me.
