Put On A Pretty Face…
When the models arrive backstage for a show, the first step is getting their make-up done. To find out more about the process, we spoke to celeb make-up artists Bobbi Brown -- who did the make-up for Cynthia Rowley's show -- and Lisa Garner, whose clients include actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and supermodel Petra Nemcova.
About how long does it take to do one model's make-up?
Bobbi: Usually, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes, however, sometimes the girls are running late from another show and we only have about five minutes to do their make-up. In these cases, we sometimes have two to three artists per model!
Lisa: Yes, the production line method generally works quite well, with some artists doing the base, another few doing the eyes, and the rest doing the lips and cheeks. But no matter how well organized a show is, there's always a race against time. When we make-up models on photo shoots, or celebrities for press or events, we have so much more time -- anywhere from 45 minutes to a few hours. It's a much more relaxed pace.
