The Princess Diaries Premiere

Plucked from obscurity by Princess director Gary Marshall, 19-year-old Anne looks sweet and demure in this strapless, lavender sheath. Of her squeaky-clean rep, Anne has said, “I thought, ‘This is what people like. This is what I should give to them.’ I guess a lot of it was a fear of rejection, too, because you don’t want people to not like you. It’s the whole popularity thing in high school. Everything goes back to that.”
