The costumes are très authentic! Were they difficult to recreate?
The wools back then were a lot thicker than today's, so to make her suits and all the details like the piping, I had to go to flea markets around France. When you recreate a period costume, it comes down to fabric. You can draw and design, but then you have to make it.

Did you have to do a lot of research?
Oui! There were already quite a few pictures of Coco Chanel, but nothing is really left from the period we treated. It was all before the First World War so nothing is really left.

Coco Chanel was always wanting and admiring the high society but she decided from the beginning that she would not copy them. She would have them copy her. She would lie about how low her class all the time.
