Why do you think you gained weight on the show? Were there opportunities to exercise?
Well, no, you're in New York in winter and we're in this three-story brownstone and the only form of exercise that we were able to have was just running up and down stairs. All the girls there were very naturally thin. They didn't exercise; they ate whatever they wanted, and their metabolism and their genetics of their bodies were just made to be model standards. I, however, am Italian, I'm naturally curvy, so it takes me a lot more personal strength and resistance when it comes to food.
What's your advice for girls who struggle with weight but want to model?
I don't think you should beat yourself up over it. I would rather someone shun away modeling, which is not the end-all be-all of the entire world. There are so many other career paths that someone can choose that wouldn't have such harmful effects.
