What is your shopping philosophy?
When I'm shopping, I don't think, "how will I wear this?" I think more, "what will I do with this?" because really there's not many things in my closet that I don't change. Sometimes it's a matter of getting sick of the clothes, and maybe I don't want to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. For me, I don't really love shopping. I think I design because there's a lack of something that I'm looking for but I don't want to look for it. I don't like to look the same as everybody else. I think you just have to keep an open mind and really see things for not what they are, but for what they could be.

Are there any trends out there now that you think are just totally faux pas?
I think it was more the low-slung jeans where you could see the thongs. I never liked that. But you don't see that as much anymore, and I like the idea that fashion is not about the overly sexy look anymore. It's very odd for me to see somebody with a deep V-neck like what Jennifer Lopez wore -- that Versace dress. It's really not relevant right now. And I love that you can still be sexy by showing your legs but covering up on top.
