Scenario 2: They Still Talk

You can't get upset at your guy for being friendly with his ex-crush in a group setting. If he and she have mutual friends, they're bound to run into each other! So what if it's more than that -- like they used to go out, and still have one-on-one chats? If she's the one always reaching out (and not vice versa), you can't fault him for returning her call or e-mail. He might have unresolved guilt issues over how things ended, and feels badly about ignoring her. Or if the relationship lasted awhile, he likely still cares about her on some minor, platonic level. Seriously, as long as she's not totes stalking your man, stay calm -- and smile at how pathetic she's acting!
