Why do you think our generation isn't as political as past generations?
It wasn't just politics -- it was pop culture. Back then, it was cool and hip to have a guitar and a beat-up minivan, and to travel around the country, living rock star style. That's what kids wanted to; that's what was popular. It was innocent and not as selfish [as today]. Now, what is popular is rims, chains, cell phones, and iPods.
What was the hardest scene for you to film?
I have this nudity scene where I take drugs and go to the bathroom in the kitty litter box -- and Demi Moore was in the room when we were filming it. It was tough for me to be nude in front of the sexiest woman in America -- in the world, for that matter. And to be going to the bathroom in the kitty litter box. You've lost all inhibition at that point. But the assassination scene was really heart wrenching. It was insane to film. To see grown men crying off-camera when they're not working, it creates this mood. It's tough.
