I've been dating this guy for a few weeks, and I'm really starting to like him. He seems pretty into me, too. Here’s the prob…he goes to a different school, so I wonder if he's dating anyone else. Not knowing if he’s with other girls is stressing me out! Is it too soon to have "the talk"?

Here’s the thing, you could have that “What are we?”/”Should we see each other exclusively?” talk, but only when you’re absolutely sure you like him enough to want to be with him and only him. Too many people jump into relationships getting swept up in the initial dating craze, before they really know a person. You’ve gotta give some thought to what potential challenges might arise -- because dating someone who goes to another school will definitely be a challenge. But, the fact that he doesn’t live on the same block as you shouldn’t affect when you have “the talk.” If you feel it’s the right time, and he tells you he’s not dating anybody else, believe in your commitment, no matter where he happens to live.


Plan B if you’re feeling sneaky: Okay, this might sound kinda devious, but if you’re still feeling stressed about things after you’ve made it official, try to plant a “mole.” If you don’t know anyone that goes to school with this guy, do your best to become super close with his pal’s girlfriend. You want this person to care enough about you to look out for you, and report back on any bad behavior your man gets into, or keep him straight when he’s heading down the wrong path. It’s the next best thing to having a camera following him. Tricky business aside, making nice with your BF’s friends is always a good move. He wants his friends to like you and approve of you, and he doesn’t want things to be awkward when you’re all hanging out together. And if you get any added surveillance benefits out of the deal, all the better. Anything to get a good night’s sleep, right?
