"He played a song for me in concert!"
I've become really good friends with this guy. We share the same tastes in music, books, and movies, and we can talk about almost anything together. He sings in a band with a few friends, and occasionally they actually get a gig somewhere. I was planning to go to one of his shows, but my older sister was coming into town, and I needed to spend some time with my family. Later that night, I got a really weird message on my voicemail. At first, all I could hear was muffled background noise. But when I listened again, I heard him say, "I wrote this song awhile ago about someone and since they aren't here tonight I can sing it without being scared of messing up." The message cut off before I heard the whole song, but I got the gist of the lyrics: how nice it was to have found someone to really talk to. It wasn't romantic, but it was definitely sweet. We've been hanging out even more since then, and I've made him play it for me a few times. We aren't dating, but we're both content being best friends.
