Tommy Mottola

Tommy Mottola is said to be the man that made Mariah Carey into a star. President of Sony Records, Tommy signed Mariah to Columbia Records in the early '90s and jumpstarted her career. The two started dating and got married in the summer of '93. Mariah told People mag of their union, "It's so unbelievable! I mean, it really is like Cinderella;" Mottola was said to have been too protective of Mariah and after four years the couple got divorced but worked together for a few more years. In 2000, Mariah left the label for good and signed with Virgin.
